Background Extraction with srctool

Hello, I'm extracting spectra for nearby clusters (0.02 < z < 0.03) and I'm having issues with extracting background spectra. When I extract them at the same time as the source spectra (using BACKREG), the background spectra are often empty or have far fewer events than I would expect: https://www.s...

Re: Radial Profiles with srctool

Dear Jeremy, Thank you for your reply. I have already set the PSFTYPE=NONE and BACKREG=NONE, so I don't think it will be those which are causing the issues. However, it is likely the first point you make about using rates without fitting the spectra first. I'll have a look into both that and MBPROJ2...

Radial Profiles with srctool

Hello, Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I am not sure which board would be better. I am currently working on extracting radial profiles of clusters to do density fitting and I'm running into a problem when using srctool to do this. My current workflow is to use srctool to extract th...

PSF Kernels for Convolution

Hello, I am currently trying to convolve emission models with the eROSITA PSF. I saw this post from the EDR forum about working with PSFs, and when I checked that folder I saw that there were 2D PSF images included as well as the "slet" PSF files pointed to in that thread. I have a few que...

Re: expmap slow on Docker?

Hi Alain, Thank you for your reply. I had thought that the difference in processor architecture could be affecting it. Until now, I had been running it in a mounted drive, yes. I have just tested in the docker home folder and it seems to have taken just as long to run as it was when running from the...

expmap slow on Docker?

Hello, I am trying to run expmap for a small (500 x 500 pixel, 2000 x 2000 arcsecond) image created with evtool from the eFEDS files with a specific region. While expmap does work when I run it, it takes much longer to run than I'd expect for such a small field (~3300 seconds). I wanted to check if ...
