I got the error shown below.

CFITSIO version in /Applications/heasoft-6.29/x86_64-apple-darwin20.4.0/lib/libcfitsio.a is
CFITSIO >= 3.20 is expected for Healpix-F90

Operating system: macOS Big Sur version 11.5.2
compiler: gcc 12.0.5
step of installation: 2.1 Building eSASS on x86_64 Linux: GNU autoconf build, launch the configure script in external/Healpix_3.50, and Point to my CFITSIO library.

Actually eSASS4EDR is not available on MacOS
and for this OS we suggest to use the Docker version,
You can find information how to download / install / configure the DOcker version In the section 3 of the page you used
so here:
